Jauhien Vaskovich

Jauhien Vaskovich was born on 26 February 1990 in Bobruisk  in the family of workers. He studied journalism in absentia at the Faculty of Philosophy of the State University in Mahilou. He worked for the newspaper the Bobruisk Courier. Jauhien Vaskovich is a member of the Belarusian Christian Democracy Party from Bobruisk.

Chronology of repression

Jauhien took part in the 19 December 2010 demonstration, he was detained for 12 days. He was detained on 17 January 2011.

On 18 May 2011 he was sentenced to 7 years in high-security prison by the Babruisk District and City Court under the article 339, part 2 (malignant hooliganism) and the article 218, part 2 (large-scale destruction of property) for the attack on the KGB building in Bobruisk (on 17 October 2010). No one was injured during the attack, but the damage to the building was estimated at 253,000 rubles. He served his sentence in the penal colony in Mahilou.

On 12 October 2011 he was tried for alleged violation of the prison regime. As a result, the prison regime was toughened and Vaskovich was transferred from penal colony No. 15 in Mahiliou to prison No. 4 in Mahiliou. Was again transferred to PK-15 in Mahilou on October 12, 2014
