Andrej Miraniuk was detained by militia officers in plain clothes in the center of Minsk on 26 April 1996, during the Chernobyl Path. He was kept in the Minsk detention center (the Volodarka prison). At the end of August 1996 the Minsk court sentenced him to a one year of imprisonment in a penal colony. Grigory Kozyricky was a judge in his case, Sergei Telezevich served as a persecutor. He was released on amnesty on 24 December 1996, along with several other citizens of Ukraine, who were convicted in the same case.
