Yury Lavonau

Yury Lavonau was born on 23 August 1961 in Kalinino in the Moscow Oblast. He graduated from the Moscow aviation institute, he served two years in the army. He served on the aerodromie in Russia, in 1991 he resigned. He has been a chairman of the organizing committee of the movement For a New Belarus (since 2001).

Chronicle of repression

On 7 July 2006, Yury Lavonau was sentenced to three years and five months in prison. The court held that he abused his professional position and helped fellow entrepreneur Mykola Autukhovich evade paying state taxes. Sentence was served in a penal colony No. 2 in Bobruisk. Yury was released on 25 January 2008.

On 8 February 2009 Yury Lavonau was arrested together with entrepreneurs: Mikalay Autukhovich and Vladimir Asipienko. They were accused of a number of serious crimes. The authorities decided to close the criminal case against Yury Lavonau, due to the fact that he was imprisoned for almost half a year in the pre-trial detention center  in Minsk.
