Vadim Labkovich

Vadim Labkovich was born in 1981 in Minsk. In 1996 he joined the Young Front, he later left the organization. He was working in the press office of the Belarusian Popular Front Party. Currently he rarely participates in the actions of the opposition. He has been working in a furniture company, and studies economy at a university. He was the first minor political prisoner in Belarus, he was sentenced at age 16.

Chronicle of repression

Vadim Labkovich was arrested on 25 August 1997 and accused of painting anti-government slogans on public buildings and statues in the town of Stolptsy. On 24 February 1998 the court in Minsk sentenced him one and a half years’ imprisonment, suspended for two years.
