Aliaksandr Kazakou

Aliaksandr  was a youth activist of the Zubr movement, which he joined while he was in high school. Aliaksandr was born in 1986 in Borisov. He studied computer science and radioelectronics at the Belarusian State University. He was also an active member of the Boy Scouts movement in Krupki.

Chronicle of repression

In 2005 the Prosecutor’s Office of the Central District Court of Minsk initiated a criminal action against Aliaksandr Kazakou and Zmicer Zubro, the other Zubr activist. A criminal proceeding was initiated under the article 363, part 2 of the Criminal Code (resisting militia officers). Aliaksandr Kazakou was detained on 28 December 2005 for making a graffiti informing about the Day of Solidarity. During the detention Aliaksandr Kazakou was severely beaten, after a doctor’s examination it turned out that he had  broken nasal septum. Aliaksandr Kazakou was detained for two days.

On 7 April 2006 Judge Valery Jesman  found Kazakou  guilty and sentenced him to two years of freedom restriction.On 9 May 2006, Aliaksandr Kazakou left Belarus. He studied computer science at the University of Warsaw.
