Zmitser Dashkevich was arrested for three days for gathering signatures for renaming the Lenin Street to the Frantsyskanskaya Street (the historical name) in the center of Minsk.

The collection of signatures was a part of the de-Communisation campaign, launched by the the Young Front. There were no incidents during the first two days of the campaign.

-Today, I have received a telephone call from Zmitser Dashkevich, who said that he was in a bus, being taken to the Tsentralny District Police Department of Minsk. As far as I could understand, he sent all other people away and was there alone- said Zmitser’s wife, Nasta Dashkevich.

As it became known later, the activist was charged under the Article 23, part 4 of the Administrative Code, “insubordination to militia officers” and taken to the Tsentralny District Court of Minsk. Judge Valery Yesman found him guilty and sentenced him to three days of arrest.

Zmitser Dashkevich is one of the co-heads of the Young Front. He was released from jail in August 2013, after spending 32 months in jail. After the release from jail, the authorities established preventive militia supervision over him.
