Political prisoner Lobau takes welding courses in penal colony

Eduard Lobau joined a vocational college in the colony number 22 in Ivacevichy, where he is serving his sentence.

His mother Maryna Lobava shared the information with charter97.org web-site.

-Eduard made a phone call and said that he had joined a vocational college. He now studies to be a welder, otherwise everything is the same. His health condition is fine. He has classes every day apart from weekends. He will study for 10 months, like at a regular vocational college. After that he will receive a diploma, but it will not said it is obtained in a colony. I think, this is good, because it will not be the time wasted, – the political prisoner’s mother noted.

The Young Front activist Eduard Lobau was sentenced to four years in prison on charges of hooliganism. He is serving his sentence in a penal colony in Ivacevichy. He and Young Front’s leader Dzmitry Dashkievich were accused of allegedly beating up passersby in Minsk. This took place a day before presidential elections. In court the “victims” testified having hidden their faces from the public. Lobau and Dashkievich claimed that the fight had been provoked by special services.
