Aliaksandr Frantskevich has serious health problems as he has only one kidney but the authorities of the penal colony do not allow his relatives to deliver him appropriate medicines.

Tatiana Frantskevich, the mother of the political prisoner Aliaksandr Frantskevich, told  that the authorities of the colony are apparently waiting for the outcome of the Council of the EU  meeting on the issue of introduction of new sanctions against Belarus.

“Aliaksandr called few days ago, he told me that they left him and Eduard Lobau alone, Eduard is serving the sentence in the same colony. There is no pressure on them, he said that there is relative peace in the colony. Recently Apostolic Nuncio to Belarus,Claudio Gegerotti,  visited him,” – the mother of the political prisoner noted.

“I think, the administration of the colony is waiting till the end of October, when the decision of the Council of the EU on the possibility of introducing new sanctions against the regime will be known. They are waiting for an order from the top as of what to do next. I hope everything will be alright, two prisoners were already released,” – said Tatiana Frantskevich.

“Aliaksandr wrote a request for allowance to meet with us in November, then it will be clear what is what. But there still remains a problem with a medical parcel. They won’t allow me to send qualitative foreign medicine to my son; they accept only cheaper Belarusian replacement drugs. It is getting cold outside, and Aliaksandr has only one kidney he must not fall sick, ” – she said.
